The
roof had sufficient area, and half of the roof was oriented nearly to the
south. However, as the roof pitch was too flat for optimal use of the
solar power, the collectors were raised with a retaining structure.
As
vacuum collector was used as the “sun collector”. It is more
efficient during the heating season because of the coating "vacuum
insulation". It also obtains higher water temperatures for heating.
This was necessary for the existing heaters.
Optics
was also a reason for using this collector. The collector surface of the
roof amounts to approximately 30 m ˛ and supplies a 2000-litre buffer
storage area and an 500-liter industrial water boiler.
