The Earth

The earth is (after Mercury and Venus) the third-closest planet of the solar system from the sun. It is classified as a (terrestrial) planet. The earth moves, like all planets, in an elliptical orbit, in which the sun is the central point. Our home planet consists of approximately 2/3 water and  1/3 continental mainland. Beside the water, which is essential for our surviving, the earth also contains numerous treasures - valuable minerals and noble metals.

Mankind has used these raw materials for thousands of years, in particular also for constructions.
